Zoom to Introduce End-to-End Encryption for Calls Next Week

The video conferencing service Zoom has announced more details about the rollout of end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for calls. According to the developers, this new feature will become available to users next week.

In a company blog post, representatives explained that E2EE will allow the generation of individual encryption keys, which will be used to protect both audio and video calls. These keys will be stored locally and will not be sent to Zoom’s servers. In other words, even the developers will not have access to encrypted calls.

To use this new security feature, users will need to update their Zoom client next week and then activate E2EE in their account settings.

Calls protected with end-to-end encryption will support up to 200 participants and will be available to both paid and free account holders.
