Top Vulnerabilities Targeted by Chinese Hackers, According to U.S. Authorities

U.S. Authorities List Vulnerabilities Exploited by Chinese Hackers

Experts from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the National Security Agency (NSA) have released information about the vulnerabilities most frequently exploited by Chinese hackers to attack U.S. government networks and critical infrastructure.

In a joint report, the federal agencies state that Chinese “government hackers” target American and allied networks, as well as technology companies, to gain access to restricted networks and steal intellectual property. The report describes such cyberattacks as “one of the largest and most dynamic threats to government and civilian networks in the United States.”

The joint study is based on previous reports from the NSA, CISA, and FBI, which are regularly published to inform federal, state, local, and other authorities, as well as companies (including critical infrastructure organizations and the defense sector), about clear trends, tactics, and methods used by cybercriminals.

The bulletin also lists recommended measures to address each of the vulnerabilities most often exploited by Chinese hackers, as well as detection methods that can help identify and block attempts at such attacks.
