Tails 4.10 and Tor Browser 9.5.4 Released

The specialized Linux distribution Tails 4.10 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) has been released. Tails is based on Debian and is designed to provide anonymous internet access. Anonymity in Tails is achieved through the Tor network. By default, all connections except those routed through Tor are blocked by a packet filter. User data persistence between sessions is protected with encryption.

An ISO image is available for download, sized at 1 GB, and can be run in Live mode.

  • The Linux kernel has been updated to version 5.7.10.
  • New versions of Tor Browser (9.5.4) and Tor (0.4.3.6) are included.
  • The Electrum Bitcoin wallet has been updated to version 4.0.2.
  • The welcome screen has been removed from the Thunderbird email client at startup.
  • Improved support for Atheros AR9271 wireless adapters.

Tor Browser 9.5.4 Highlights

Alongside the Tails release, the new Tor Browser 9.5.4 is now available. This browser is focused on providing anonymity, security, and privacy. The release is synchronized with the Firefox 68.12.0 ESR codebase, which addresses three security vulnerabilities. The following extensions have also been updated:

  • NoScript 11.0.38
  • HTTPS Everywhere 2020.08.13
