Russians Encounter Problems Downloading Windows 10 and 11

Russian users have reported difficulties downloading the latest versions of Microsoft’s operating systems (Windows 10 and 11), the Media Creation Tool, and several other products. When attempting to download these files, users are met with a “404 — File or Directory not found” error, indicating that the file or directory cannot be found.

According to DTF, there have also been a few complaints from residents of Kazakhstan experiencing similar issues. However, these problems do not occur when using a VPN service.

Microsoft has not made any official statements regarding access restrictions for users in Russia. Earlier in March of this year, Microsoft announced the suspension of sales and services in Russia due to the “special operation” in Ukraine. The company also pledged to help protect Ukraine’s cyberspace.
