Roskomnadzor and Ministry of Internal Affairs Seize Nearly 9,700 Illegal SIM Cards
Roskomnadzor, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD), conducted 194 inspections targeting the illegal distribution of mobile operator SIM cards. The majority of these raids took place in the Volga and North Caucasus federal districts, with 49 inspections in each region.
As a result, approximately 9,700 illegally sold SIM cards were seized. Of these, 3,954 belonged to PJSC “VimpelCom,” 513 to PJSC “MTS,” 5,073 to PJSC “MegaFon,” 102 to LLC “T2 Mobile,” and 52 to other mobile operators.
Authorities filed 100 administrative offense reports against violators. Most of the offenses were related to selling SIM cards without signing a contract and without the buyer providing identification, as well as contracts for communication services being signed by unauthorized individuals.
Additionally, in July, 56 instances of suspected violations involving the illegal sale of SIM cards online were recorded. If these violations are confirmed, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia will take the necessary measures within its authority.
