Pavel Durov Begins Development of Advanced Darknet Version

Pavel Durov Begins Work on an Advanced Darknet Version

Pavel Durov and his brother Nikolai have started jointly developing an advanced version of the darknet, which will allow all users to fully protect their personal data from authorities. Their version of the internet will include all necessary features and capabilities, including remote payment services.

The Telegram messenger attracted massive attention after it was blocked in Russia, but this app is only the starting point in the Durov brothers’ plans. They intend to create their own version of the darknet and call it Telegram Open Network (TON). Communication and file sharing will take place through the familiar messenger, but new features will be added.

Users will be able to use various virtual wallets and even virtual payment services, not only with VISA and MasterCard, but also with cryptocurrency. TON will also implement a torrent system and similar file-sharing services, which will only increase the network’s popularity, provided that all users have hidden IP addresses that cannot be discovered, not even by the developers themselves.

Expert Opinions and Challenges

According to experts, there are two major challenges to implementing TON. The first is that users will need to not only submit their data but also verify it by providing photos of their passports and utility payment receipts. This is necessary for the security of personal funds, but not everyone will agree to provide such information online.

Additionally, all the planned anonymity features and the storage of data on servers outside of Russia make TON automatically banned within the country due to violations of local laws.
