More Than Thirty Websites Blocked for Information on Circumventing Restrictions
During our monitoring of the registry of prohibited information, we discovered that since the law banning information about bypassing internet restrictions came into effect, Roskomnadzor has blocked more than thirty links and websites containing such materials.
Most of these articles focus on restoring access to foreign social networks like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter (X). However, there are also general informational materials about tools for bypassing restrictions, including:
- reestr.rublacklist.net/ru/record/6865601
- reestr.rublacklist.net/ru/record/6865728
- reestr.rublacklist.net/ru/record/6864862

- reestr.rublacklist.net/ru/record/6895229
- reestr.rublacklist.net/ru/record/6894986
Some websites had several materials blocked at once. For example, VPN Mentor had 8 links censored, ProPrivacy had 5 materials blocked, Solution360 had 4 links blocked, and both SecuryCritic and BinGuru had 2 each.
Some of the links listed above are already inaccessible.
Other Blocked Resources
The list of blocked sites also includes:
- The popular anonymizer βChameleonβ
- A link to an article from the NTC website, which publishes materials about fighting internet censorship
- A site with InstaVPN
Despite the existence of specific rules and criteria, the enforcement of the new law banning information about bypassing restrictions can hardly be called predictable, as we have discussed in detail in our previous materials.
It is also important to remember that the VPN technology itself, its use in Russia, and VPN services are not prohibited by law.
