Over 10,000 IT Professionals Sign Anti-War Open Letter
More than 10,000 IT professionals have signed an open letter opposing the military operation in Ukraine. The authors of the letter are calling for the cancellation of decisions that could “inevitably lead to human casualties on both sides.”
The letter, which anyone could sign, was published on Facebook by Natalia Lukyanchikova, a product manager at HeadHunter. Over 10,000 representatives of Russian IT companies have added their signatures.
“We believe that any use of force leading to the outbreak of war is unjustified and urge the cancellation of decisions that could inevitably result in human casualties on both sides. Our countries have always been close to each other. Today, we are concerned for our Ukrainian colleagues, friends, and relatives. We are deeply troubled and morally distressed by what is happening in the cities of Ukraine.
In our work, we create the best products and services, and we sincerely do everything we can to make Russian IT solutions a source of pride. We want our country to be associated not with war, but with peace and progress.
Progress and the development of technology for the benefit of humanity are impossible in conditions of war and threats to people’s lives and health. They are only possible through cooperation, diversity of viewpoints, information exchange, and open dialogue.
We ask the leadership of our country to pay attention to our appeal, to find ways to resolve this situation peacefully, and to prevent human casualties.”
Previously, representatives of the film industry and the architectural community also spoke out against the special operation. Students, graduate students, and professors, as well as psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychotherapists, have recorded appeals. Dozens of Russian actors, athletes, singers, and artists have also voiced their opposition to the operation.
