Mozilla Launches Firefox Send: Secure File Sharing Service

Mozilla has released the final version of Firefox Send, a free service designed for encrypted file sharing. This solution allows users to share files from any browser securely.

With Firefox Send, users can share files up to one gigabyte in size. If you use a free Firefox account, the file size limit increases to 2.5 GB. The recipient does not need a Firefox account to access the shared filesβ€”just a link is required.

Key Security Features

The beta version of Firefox Send was first announced in August 2017. Compared to the beta, the final version offers significantly improved security features, including:

  • An option to set the link to self-destruct after 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 20, 50, or 100 downloads.
  • An option to set the link to self-destruct after 5 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, or 1 week.
  • Password protection for files as an additional layer of security.
