McDonald’s Suffers Data Breach in the US, South Korea, and Taiwan

The fast-food giant McDonald’s has fallen victim to a cyberattack. As a result of the breach, “commercial information” was leaked in the United States, along with business contact details of employees and franchisees in the US.

According to McDonald’s, the overall number of affected individuals was “small,” though the company did not disclose the exact figure. McDonald’s also assured that no customer payment information was stolen during the incident.

The company has already launched an investigation into the breach and has brought in external consultants to assist. McDonald’s plans to allocate additional resources to ensure the confidentiality of its business information.

The restaurant chain has notified regulators in South Korea and Taiwan about the incident. The company will also provide relevant information to customers and employees.

McDonald’s clarified that the data leak did not impact restaurant operations. The hackers did not demand a ransom for the stolen personal data.
