Massive Hack Hits Russian Arbitration Court Websites This Morning
This morning, a large-scale hack targeted the websites of Russian Federation arbitration courts. Hackers posted messages on the main pages containing insults directed at Vladimir Putin and Russian citizens, related to the ongoing operation in Ukraine. Although these messages were soon removed, the websites remained inaccessible.
Regions Affected by the Attack
The attack impacted courts in Moscow, Primorsky Krai, Krasnodar Krai, Khabarovsk Krai, and several other regions. By around 6:15 AM, the messages had disappeared, but the sites were still not loading.
Unified Platform Vulnerability
Inga Sorokina, the press secretary of the Primorsky Krai Arbitration Court, explained that all the court websites operate on a single Moscow-based platform. As a result, the hacker attack affected all pages simultaneously.
Recent History of Website Defacement in Russia
This incident marks the third major case of mass website defacement in Russia in recent times. On February 28, the Anonymous group hacked the websites of TASS, Izvestia, Kommersant, and other media outlets, posting a banner in Russian calling for an end to the “special operation” in Ukraine. On March 8, an identical anti-war image appeared on the websites of the Federal Penitentiary Service, the Ministry of Culture, and other government agencies.
