Major Drug Seizure in Salekhard: Police Find 258 Grams of Marijuana in Garage
In Salekhard, law enforcement officers have confiscated a large batch of drugs. According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, city narcotics control officers identified a suspect during an ongoing investigation. The young, unemployed man was apprehended with the support of the special forces unit “Grom.”
The police discovered a significant “catch” during the search of his garage. Among various metal objects, officers found a three-liter jar containing a suspicious plant-based substance and a plastic container holding more than fifty rolled cigarettes. Also present were an ashtray, a foil packet with remnants of an unknown substance, and fertilizers used for growing marijuana at home.
The seized items were sent to the forensic center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for analysis. Experts confirmed that the previously unconvicted man was storing 258 grams of marijuana in his garage. A criminal case has been initiated against the individual under Part 2 of Article 228 of the Russian Criminal Code (illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, manufacture, or processing of narcotic drugs in large quantities). The investigation is ongoing. The Salekhard resident faces up to ten years in prison.
