Izhevsk Resident Accused of Creating Crypto-Paid Murder-for-Hire Service

Izhevsk Resident Accused of Running Murder-for-Hire Service with Cryptocurrency Payments

Police in Udmurtia have arrested the owner of an unnamed darknet service accused of organizing contract killings. According to the regional Investigative Committee, the 38-year-old resident of Izhevsk assisted clients in finding hitmen across Russia, gathered information about intended victims, and acquired and transferred weapons for committing crimes.

Authorities have linked the suspect to the murder of a married couple in the Vladimir region, as well as the attempted murder of a St. Petersburg resident. Payments for the service were accepted in cryptocurrency and through electronic wallets registered to third parties.

During a search of the suspect’s residence, police discovered around a thousand different SIM cards and a large amount of cash. A criminal case has been opened for murder and illegal arms trafficking.

For reference, in May, U.S. authorities arrested a Tennessee resident suspected of organizing a contract killing of his wife. The payment was made in Bitcoin.
