Humm Headset Boosts Intelligence by 10-20%

The Humm headset claims to make its user smarter by 10-20%. This innovative device works by stimulating the prefrontal cortex of the brain using electrical impulses. To benefit from the device, simply wear the band on your head about fifteen minutes before engaging in mental work and turn it on. The effect includes increased concentration and improved stress resistance, lasting for at least one hour.

How the Humm Headset Works

According to Humm CEO Iain McIntyre, the headset uses targeted electrical stimulation to help users focus and learn new skills. The technology is based on a new form of non-invasive brain stimulation. Its safety has been proven by clinical studies conducted over the past 20 years. The device uses a very low current—about 2 milliamps and less than 20 volts—which is just a hundredth of the natural current that flows in the brain.

Testing and Effectiveness

During testing conducted by the startup in collaboration with an Australian university, participants experienced a significant (10-20%) improvement in memory. In early 2019, the engineers plan to submit the Humm headset for independent third-party testing.

Potential Uses

This new technology is expected to be especially popular among students, for example, during exams. According to McIntyre, the development of Humm is a fundamentally new step toward enhancing human intellectual abilities without the side effects typical of all stimulants, such as caffeine. While it won’t turn you into a superhuman, it can greatly expand your capabilities.

Release Date and Price

The Humm headset is scheduled to go on sale at the end of 2019, with an estimated price of around $500.
