Hackers Compromise Data of HIMARS Rocket System Manufacturer
Russian Hackers Attack
The hacker group Killnet has attacked the American defense corporation Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer of the HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems. According to the hackers themselves, they breached the company’s employee authentication systems. During the attack, they also obtained data on all job applicants to the corporation. This was reported by KillMilk, the founder of the hacker group, on his Telegram channel.
“The world’s best security system, Akamai, failed at Lockheed Martin,” Killnet stated. “Maybe they realized they shouldn’t help terrorists.”
In addition to IT systems, the company’s website also went down. Other hacker groups, including “Anonymous Russia” and CarbonSec, participated in blocking Lockheed Martin’s electronic identification systems.
According to Killnet’s Telegram channel, all Lockheed Martin systems have now been restored, but the data has not been recovered.
War Against HIMARS
On August 1, 2022, the Killnet hacker group declared war on Lockheed Martin, promising “a new level of hacker attacks.” KillMilk called the corporation “terrorists” and urged all hacker groups to join the cyberattack and help spread the personal information of the company’s employees.
Since late June 2022, Lockheed Martin’s HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems have been supplied by the United States to Ukraine. Ukraine is using HIMARS against the Russian Armed Forces.
Aftermath and Group Changes
After declaring war on the American corporation, KillMilk left the Killnet hacker group. In an interview with “Gazeta,” he explained that he was leaving Killnet to divert “potential retaliatory fire” away from its members.
