Google Launches Auto-Delete for Location History
Google has started rolling out its new auto-delete feature for location history, which was first announced in May. At recent developer conferences, both Google and Apple expressed their commitment to giving users more control over the data they share with companies and third-party apps. The auto-delete feature for location history is designed to provide users with greater control over their personal information.
Google has faced criticism in the past for requiring users to manually manage much of their data. Until recently, the company stored usersβ location history and web & app activity indefinitely, unless users deleted it themselves. Now, users can set the auto-delete feature to automatically remove this information every three or eighteen months. Itβs also possible to delete all data older than a year and a half.
The feature is expected to become available next week on both Android and iOS platforms.
