Firefox 65.0.1 and Tor Browser 8.0.6 Updates
A corrective release, Firefox 65.0.1, has been prepared, addressing three vulnerabilities and fixing eight bugs. The vulnerabilities affected the integrated Skia library and could lead to integer overflow, use-after-free memory access, or buffer overflow when processing specially crafted data. These vulnerabilities have also been fixed in Firefox 60.5.1 ESR.
Key Bug Fixes in Firefox 65.0.1
- Removed accidental requests to the external host addons.mozilla.org when displaying contextual add-on recommendations, before the user clicked the install button.
- Improved playback of interactive videos from Netflix.
- Resolved an issue with incorrect sizing of the “Clear Recent History” dialog.
- Eliminated delays in audio and video output during WebRTC calls.
- Fixed incorrect video sizing for certain WebRTC video calls.
- Resolved looping CONNECT requests when establishing a communication channel through a proxy server using WebSockets over HTTP/2.
- Fixed the “Enter” key not working in password input forms on Ubuntu and some other Linux distributions.
Tor Browser 8.0.6 Release
At the same time, Tor Browser 8.0.6 was released. In addition to the above-mentioned vulnerability fixes, this update includes an updated version of the HTTPS Everywhere extension (2019.1.31) and removes the address 83.212.101.3 from the default gateway list, as this node has not been operational for several months.
Additional News: Collaboration with Ubisoft
Additionally, it was announced that Mozilla has entered into an agreement with Ubisoft to use the Clever-Commit system in Firefox development. Clever-Commit leverages machine learning methods to analyze code quality and detect bugs during code review, new code writing, and product testing. The system helps identify common programming errors at the earliest stages of development by considering change history, various auxiliary metrics, and data from the bug tracking system (it learns from previously made mistakes to detect similar issues in the future).
