Fast Payment System in Russia Targeted by DDoS Attacks
The Bank of Russia has reported a slowdown in the operation of the Fast Payment System (FPS) due to an increased level of DDoS attacks on telecom provider channels. According to the regulator’s statement, the security of funds is not affected by these incidents.
“Currently, due to a heightened background of DDoS attacks on telecom provider channels, there may be temporary slowdowns in the Fast Payment System. Some transactions may take longer to process, or may need to be repeated after some time. This does not affect the safety of funds in any way,” the statement said.
The operational payment and clearing center of the FPS—NSPK JSC—is working with telecom providers to address the current situation.
What Is the Fast Payment System?
The Fast Payment System (FPS) is a service that allows users to make interbank transfers using a mobile phone number, 24/7, including holidays and weekends. Fees for such transfers are low or may not be charged at all.
