Europol and Finnish Authorities Shut Down PIILOPUOTI Darknet Marketplace
Finnish law enforcement, Europol, and cybersecurity experts have dismantled the darknet marketplace known as PIILOPUOTI. According to official statements, this platform had been facilitating smuggling and drug sales in Finland since May 2022.

Authorities explained that the investigation was conducted in cooperation with officials from Germany and Lithuania, as well as Europol, Eurojust, other countriesβ authorities, and various police units within Finland itself.
Additionally, the cybersecurity company Bitdefender announced its participation in the operation, providing law enforcement with investigative guidance. βWe are pleased to learn that our information contributed to the operation. This is a prime example of public and private sector resources coming together to combat illegal online activity,β Bitdefender representatives told journalists from The Record.
Ongoing Investigation
According to Finnish Customs, the investigation is still ongoing, and at this time, they cannot provide any further information regarding the shutdown of PIILOPUOTI. Since the investigation is not yet complete, Finnish authorities have not disclosed whether any arrests have been made or if other illegal activities were conducted through the PIILOPUOTI platform.
