DuckDuckGo Surpasses 100 Million Daily Searches

The privacy-focused search engine DuckDuckGo has announced a new milestone: for the first time in its 12-year history, the search engine has reached 100,000,000 searches in a single day.

In recent years, DuckDuckGo has been growing more rapidly. For example, in August 2020, the search engine reported receiving 2 billion searches per month on a regular basis. While these numbers are still small compared to Google’s 5 billion daily searches, it’s a clear sign that users are looking for alternatives and are increasingly concerned about privacy and confidentiality.

The growth of DuckDuckGo accelerated after it expanded beyond its own website and became available as mobile apps for Android and iOS, as well as a special extension for Chrome. These apps and extensions have already been installed by more than 4 million users.

DuckDuckGo representatives told journalists at Bleeping Computer that in 2020, the average number of daily searches increased by 62%. The new record was set on January 11, 2021, when the search engine processed 102,251,307 searches in a single day.
