Czech Republic Extradites Two Ukrainians Accused of Cyberattacks on the US

Two Ukrainian citizens accused of participating in cyberattacks against the United States have been extradited by the Czech Republic. They face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

According to investigators, the criminal group operated in several countries and carried out cyberattacks not only on financial institutions in the US, but also in other nations. The Czech police, with assistance from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), arrested the Ukrainian citizens back in February 2020.

This information was shared with journalists on Saturday by Jaroslav Ibehej, a representative of the Czech National Center for Combating Organized Crime. β€œIn early March, the Czech Republic extradited two Ukrainians to the US who are suspected of being part of an organized criminal group involved in cyberattacks and laundering funds obtained through this criminal activity,” he stated.

According to law enforcement, the Ukrainians were identified and apprehended in cooperation with the FBI. If found guilty, they could face up to 20 years in prison.
