Coca-Cola Targeted by Stormous Hacker Group: Data Breach Investigation Underway

Coca-Cola Suffers Cyberattack by Stormous Hacker Group

The hacker group Stormous claims to have breached Coca-Cola and stolen over 161 GB of data. The hackers are reportedly attempting to sell this information for $65,000 or 1.6 Bitcoin. Coca-Cola has stated that it is aware of these claims and is currently investigating the incident.

Details of the Attack

The situation began when Stormous posted a statement on its Telegram channel announcing the alleged hack of Coca-Cola. Earlier in March, the group had declared its support for the Russian government’s actions regarding the “special operation in Ukraine.” It appears that Coca-Cola became a target after suspending its operations in Russia, following a poll conducted by Stormous on Telegram. According to the hackers, the company was breached less than a week after the poll.

According to Bleeping Computer, the criminals posted a cache of data on their website and are asking for 1.65 Bitcoin (about $64,000 at the current exchange rate). The files reportedly include compressed documents, text files with administrator information, emails and passwords, ZIP archives with payment data, and other confidential information.

Stormous’ Previous Claims

This is the first time Stormous has published stolen data from a company. Previously, the group claimed responsibility for hacking Epic Games, stating they had stolen 200 GB of data and information on 33 million users of the Epic Games Store and company games. However, no evidence was provided to support those claims.

Coca-Cola’s Response

So far, Coca-Cola representatives have not confirmed whether any data was actually stolen as a result of the cyberattack. The company has stated that it is cooperating with law enforcement and is investigating the alleged Stormous attack, assessing the potential impact of the incident.
