Bitcoin Core to Add Support for Tor Network V3 Addresses
The upcoming version of Bitcoin Core (v0.21) will include support for V3 addresses on the Tor Network. This announcement was made by Blockstream co-founder Pieter Wuille.
Wuille highlighted the significant contribution of Vasilii Dimov, who proposed this feature several years ago.
According to Wuille, the release of the new version of the popular Bitcoin client is likely expected in December.
Transition from V2 to V3 Addresses
According to the Tor blog, by October 15, 2021, developers will release new client versions that will disable V2 addresses. Tor users already have access to third-generation (V3) addresses.
Compared to the previous version, V3 addresses offer stronger cryptography and reveal less information.
