How to Buy Weed Abroad: Cyprus Edition

How to Buy Mary Jane Abroad? V.2

Hello everyone, this is Pavluu! I recently got back from vacationing in Cyprus, and of course, I want to share how you can score some weed there to make your trip more enjoyable and interesting.

Previously, I wrote about buying weed in Thailand and Europe. Now, let’s talk about Cyprus!

General Tips for Buying Weed Abroad

You’ll probably find yourself in situations where someone offers you weed. This can be pretty risky and sketchy, though it really depends on the situation. If someone approaches you on the beach or on the street, it’s best to say no—you’ll either get ripped off, pay 3-5 times the real price, or even get set up by the cops, which is especially likely in Southeast Asian countries.

On the other hand, if you make friends with someone and they offer to smoke or sell you some, it’s up to you to decide if you trust them. If it’s a local, like a hotel worker, your chances are pretty good. (I’ve had this experience myself, and the guy turned out to be awesome—we still keep in touch.)

The simplest way is to ask taxi drivers, bartenders, waiters, or sex workers. I don’t really recommend taxi drivers—they’ll charge you double or triple and might scam you. The others usually have stuff on them or nearby.

Be ready for them to just ask, “How much money do you have?” and then hook you up for that amount. I recommend not mentioning more than 50 euros or the equivalent in another currency.

What Are Your Options in Cyprus?

There are plenty of options—let’s break them down.

Option 1 (My First Score)

The best value for money is getting weed from locals. I’m not sure how this works on the street, but I got lucky and had a “local Cypriot friend” I connected with on Instagram a week before my trip. He brought me 5 grams of fragrant buds on my second day there.

If you want to score from locals, ask bartenders and waiters. Cypriots call weed “bullshit”—if you use that word, they’ll know what you mean. If you say “weed” or “cannabis,” they’ll get nervous and back off.

Option 2 (My Second Score)

In Ayia Napa, on the way to the bar street, there’s a small square next to the local monastery. You can’t miss it: there’s a monument in the center and a huge brick wall with benches nearby. There, you’ll find Black guys selling buds right on the spot.

Important: Weigh your purchase on the spot. Some will try to give you 0.6-0.7 grams instead of a full gram and act like it’s normal. Don’t be afraid to call them out—they’ll give you the right amount if you show you know what’s up.

(!) I even met a guy who sells fat 1.0-1.2g Lemon Haze buds that are super strong. Want his contact? Message me privately.

Option 3 (Most Expensive)

On the same bar street, you can approach Black promoters. You can try to negotiate, but expect to pay at least 5 euros more. These aren’t dealers—they just run to the guys in the park or elsewhere. This is a last resort. It’s the most expensive option, but it works. Just know you won’t be able to check the size of the bud since you’re buying through a middleman. Any complaints will be ignored.

What About Prices?

  • 1 gram of local Cypriot weed (from locals): 14-15 euros
  • 1 gram of premium buds from the guys in the park: 30 euros. If you buy more than two grams, you can easily negotiate down to 25 euros per gram.
  • 1 gram of premium buds from the guys on bar street: 35 euros and up.

Yeah, the prices are pretty crazy. Plan your budget ahead of time if you want to include weed.

One More Thing!

From August 15 to 19, Cyprus celebrates religious holidays. The whole island is on vacation, and there are tons of locals and police everywhere. All the dealers disappear! On bar street, 90% of the guys will say there’s nothing available and will nervously ask where you’re from. Keep this in mind!

Smoke smart and stay safe—good vibes to everyone!
