CBD Oral Use Linked to Reduced Symptoms of Stress and Anxiety Disorders
A study conducted by a group of Indian medical professionals, published in the latest issue of the Asian Journal of Psychiatry, has found that oral consumption of CBD extracts derived from industrial hemp is associated with a reduction in symptoms of stress and anxiety commonly seen in chronic stress-related mental disorders.
The study involved 178 adult residents of India who had been formally diagnosed with various forms of stress-related mental disorders. Over the course of a 15-week experiment, participants were divided into two groups. One group received a daily capsule containing 150 mg of CBD oil, while the control group received capsules with a non-psychoactive placebo.
According to the authors, noticeable effects from the CBD capsules were observed just a few days after the experiment began. These effects were evident not only in the participants’ subjective reports but also in observable behavioral changes recorded by the medical team.
“Based on our personal observations, by the end of the first week of the experiment, it was easy to note differences in the behavior and reactions of participants before and after starting the substance,” the researchers stated. “CBD had a noticeable impact on all participants, who generally became calmer and more optimistic thanks to the substance. Individuals suffering from anger outbursts or mood swings were able to suppress these symptoms with CBD. Participants with depressive symptoms reported that the substance improved their overall tone, significantly enhanced sleep quality, and increased their ability to concentrate. Importantly, unlike pharmaceutical drugs, CBD produced these effects in a very short period of time and did not cause any noticeable side effects. Overall, these factors allow us to recommend CBD extracts as a simple, affordable, and, most importantly, safe alternative to many medications currently used in the treatment of stress and anxiety disorders.”
