Panic Button: Emergency Data Wipe Software for Windows
The CyberYozh security group has announced the release of Panic Button, the first program designed for emergency digital data destruction on Windows computers. Any unauthorized access to your computer—whether it’s a colleague secretly logging in or law enforcement extracting information—triggers immediate and irreversible data deletion.
This program is intended for anyone who wants to protect confidential information from unauthorized access or forensic analysis. This includes journalists, entrepreneurs, government officials, politicians, and everyday users concerned about cybercriminal attacks.
How Panic Button Works
Panic Button can be activated either by user actions (such as clicking a shortcut or pressing a pre-set key combination) or automatically, functioning as a logic bomb. In the program’s settings, the user specifies a required action; if this action is not performed, the program destroys confidential data. This means the logic bomb will trigger if access to the computer is obtained secretly or by force.
Features of Panic Button
- Quickly deletes all records of user activity in the operating system, including information about recently viewed documents, images, and launched programs.
- Erases online activity data—browser history, cache, cookies, bookmarks, and saved passwords. The program supports all popular browsers: Chrome, Mozilla, Opera, Edge, and Yandex Browser.
- Destroys any files specified in the program’s settings upon activation.
- Optionally, users can set up email notifications to be sent when the program is triggered.
Key Capabilities
- Emergency deletion of all information about user activity on the system and online.
- Emergency deletion of any files specified in the program’s settings.
