Instagram Adds New Anti-Phishing Feature

Instagram Introduces New Security Feature to Combat Phishing

Facebook has added a new security feature to Instagram aimed at protecting users from phishing attacks. From now on, when users receive a notification from Instagram, they can verify whether it was actually sent by the company or if it is a phishing attempt.

To check the authenticity of a message, users need to go to the app’s settings, open the “Security” section, and select “Emails from Instagram.” Here, all notifications sent by Instagram over the past 14 days are stored.

The rollout of this update has just begun and may take some time to reach all users.

How the New Feature Works

The new menu divides messages from Instagram into two categories: “Security notifications” and “Other.” Emails in this section are safe, and users can confidently click on any links they contain. If an email that appears to be from Instagram is not listed in this section, it is likely fake, and scammers are attempting to deceive the recipient.

Why This Feature Matters

This new security feature is a welcome addition, as the number of phishing attacks continues to rise. Attackers are becoming increasingly inventive and have even learned how to bypass two-factor authentication.

Stay vigilant and always verify the authenticity of messages to protect your account from potential threats.
