Hotbit Crypto Exchange Customer Data Breach: Hackers Access Personal Information

Hotbit Crypto Exchange Suspends Operations After Cyberattack

The cryptocurrency exchange Hotbit has temporarily suspended its operations following an attempted hack. According to a statement on the platform’s website, attackers launched a large-scale cyberattack aiming to access the exchange’s wallets, but were ultimately unsuccessful in doing so.

Customer Data Compromised

Despite failing to access the wallets, the criminals may have obtained customers’ phone numbers, email addresses, and information about their assets. Hotbit has recommended that users change their account passwords, especially if they use the same password on other services.

Service Restoration Timeline

Hotbit estimates that it will take between 7 and 14 days to fully restore its services. During this period, the company plans to completely rebuild its server architecture to enhance security.

About Hotbit

Hotbit began operations in early 2018 and, according to the exchange, now has over 2 million users. As of March, the official Hotbit.io website had 2.2 million visitors.
