BlaBlaCar and BI.ZONE Partner to Combat Phishing

BlaBlaCar and BI.ZONE Join Forces to Detect Phishing

BlaBlaCar and BI.ZONE have announced a partnership aimed at quickly identifying and blocking phishing resources that imitate and illegally use the BlaBlaCar brand for fraudulent activities.

According to several major Russian cybersecurity companies, 2021 saw a surge in fraudulent activities involving phishing websites. The tourism industry was one of the main targets. However, many popular websites where users can purchase goods or services—ranging from pizza delivery to theater ticket sales—are also at risk.

BlaBlaCar has also occasionally become a target for scammers. The partnership with BI.ZONE will help the company promptly detect and block phishing platforms to prevent users from being deceived.

Expert Opinions

Mikhail Dobrov, Marketing Director of BlaBlaCar in Russia:

“If you follow basic safety rules, the chances of being scammed are virtually eliminated. During the booking process, we warn users not to move trip discussions to other messengers, not to click on suspicious links, not to prepay drivers (payment should only be made after the trip), and not to share payment details. However, the trust of ordinary people is the weak point of any system. That’s why, in addition to defensive strategies, we take proactive measures—actively searching for and blocking fake websites. In this, we are supported by a leading player in the cybersecurity market—BI.ZONE.”

Evgeny Voloshin, Director of Expert Services at BI.ZONE:

“Phishing detection is one of the key areas of our work. On a regular basis, our experts find and block thousands of fake websites that damage the reputations of our clients’ brands. The tourism industry is one of the most attractive sectors for cybercriminals, and we are glad to help BlaBlaCar protect thousands of their customers from this serious threat.”
