Tails 4.15 Linux Distribution Released

The specialized Linux distribution Tails 4.15 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) has been released. Tails is based on Debian packages and is designed to provide anonymous internet access. Anonymity in Tails is achieved through the Tor network. By default, all connections except those routed through Tor are blocked by a packet filter. User data is encrypted when using the persistent storage mode, allowing data to be saved securely between sessions. The new release is available as a 1 GB ISO image that can run in Live mode.

  • Updated Linux kernel to version 5.9.15
  • Updated Thunderbird to version 78.6.0
  • Updated Tor Browser to version 10.0.9 (official releases of Tor Browser 10.0.9 and Firefox 85 are expected later in the evening)
  • Resolved issues with using iOS 14 hotspot (tethering) mode
  • Added support for using Ledger hardware wallets in the Electrum Bitcoin client
