When can I start growing cannabis at home?

You can start growing cannabis at home soon, as soon as the government publication Royal Gazette releases the law with the updated list of Category 5 narcotics, from which cannabis has been removed.

Do I need to notify authorities before starting to grow cannabis?

Yes, before you begin growing, you must notify your provincial public health office about how many cannabis plants you intend to grow, where they will be grown, and for what purpose. The office will then forward your application to the Food and Drug Administration. You can start growing cannabis only after receiving approval.

What are the restrictions on home cannabis cultivation?

Individual households can grow up to six cannabis plants. However, groups registered with the government as a community enterprise (seven people) can grow an unlimited number of plants.

What are the permitted uses for homegrown cannabis?
