Europe’s Largest Hemp Seed Processing Plant Launches in Tula Region
The largest hemp seed processing plant in Europe has opened in the Uzlovaya Special Economic Zone in the Tula region. The facility is owned by the company “Makosh.” Across Europe, there are only five such plants, with the previous largest located in Estonia, processing 5,000 tons of raw materials annually. The new plant in Tula will process 20,000 tons per year!
The processed hemp seeds will be used to produce hulled hemp hearts, hemp flour, cold-pressed hemp oil, water-soluble hemp protein concentrate, hemp fiber, and hemp-based plant beverages. The finished products are planned for use in protein production, sauces and toppings, whole grain bread, snack bars, cookies and gingerbread, confectionery, ice cream, and plant-based drinks.
Currently, only a few companies in Russia are involved in the hemp business, but interest in this field is clearly growing—and that’s definitely exciting. Maybe soon we’ll even bring back the “Master Hemp Grower” badges.
