US Air Force Bans Greek Blueberry Yogurt with Hemp Seeds

The United States Air Force has strongly advised its personnel to avoid consuming Greek blueberry yogurt containing hemp seeds, according to Yahoo Shine. This particular flavor of yogurt was added to the Air Force’s blacklist after it was discovered to contain hemp seeds with trace amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive ingredient found in cannabis.

The ban was implemented in accordance with dietary regulations established in 1999. At that time, the Air Force added hemp seed oil to its list of prohibited substances, explaining that consuming products containing hemp seeds could cause officers to fail drug tests.

β€œWhat upsets me most is that hemp seeds are actually healthy,” commented Ashley Koff, a dietitian and consultant. β€œThe only high you can get from them is a feeling of fullness.”

Cannabis is produced from varieties containing between one and twenty percent THC, while industrial hemp contains no more than one percent of the psychoactive ingredient.

The company that manufactures the Greek yogurt has already announced that it will remove hemp seeds from its products in response to the ban.
