Slovenia Voters Support Cannabis Legalization Referendum

Slovenian Voters Back Cannabis Legalization in Referendum

On June 24, 2024, voters in Slovenia participated in a referendum addressing the legalization of cannabis. Residents were asked two key questions: whether they support the cultivation and processing of cannabis for medical purposes, and whether adults should be allowed to grow and possess recreational cannabis at home.

Approximately 600,000 people took part in the vote, with an overwhelming majority supporting legalization. While this referendum is not a binding election and does not directly change the law, it serves as a clear indicator to the authorities of the public’s stance on the issue.
