Nevada Supreme Court Reclassifies Marijuana as Equivalent to Cocaine
The Nevada Supreme Court has overturned a previous decision that removed cannabis from the list of strictly controlled substances. Two years ago, marijuana regulations were relaxed, sparking widespread discussion. At the time, the judge considered the recognized medical uses of marijuana. However, the Supreme Court has now cited bureaucratic procedures, ruling that the classification of cannabis cannot be challenged outside of a criminal case.
This has led to an absurd situation. Despite the legalization of both recreational and medical cannabis in Nevada, it remains classified as a substance with a high potential for abuse and no recognized medical value. This creates legal complications for both users and lawmakers.
While the legal confusion continues in Nevada, a group of U.S. senators is once again calling for a review of marijuanaβs classification at the federal level.
