Canadian Coffee Chains to Transform CafΓ©s into Cannabis Stores
On August 15, the Canadian company Second Cup announced plans to convert some of its coffee shops into retail cannabis stores, according to the Financial Post.
Several Second Cup locations in Ontario will be redesigned to sell cannabis, as reported by the Financial Post. Second Cup has partnered with National Access Cannabis, a cannabis delivery company. The new stores will operate under the name Meta Cannabis Supply Co.
Second Cup plans to open more than 130 cannabis retail stores in Ontario, and between 50 and 70 locations in Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia.
Canada is set to legalize the sale, possession, and use of cannabis starting October 17, 2018.
Itβs worth noting that Canada is following the path of countries like the Czech Republic, Spain, Portugal, and Austria in legalizing drugs. After Uruguay and 25 U.S. states, Canada will become another country to fully legalize cannabis use nationwide.
