Tourists in Cambodia Are Served Pizza with Marijuana
Here’s another reason to travel to Cambodia! The world of marijuana cuisine is developing rapidly, but usually, news about the achievements of cannabis chefs comes from Europe, especially the Netherlands, or from the United States. In Asia, such experiences are rare. The region is generally known for its strict stance on marijuana, with some countries even imposing the death penalty for any drug offenses. However, Cambodia is an exception—while marijuana is officially banned, authorities often turn a blind eye to its use. In other words, Cambodia is something like the “Asian Netherlands.”
Local businesses have taken advantage of this situation. The fast-food chain “Happy Herb Pizza” in the town of Siem Reap can surprise tourists with food containing marijuana. For example, their pizza is highly praised by visitors. Although the official menu on their website lists it as spinach pizza, in reality, it contains marijuana. According to reviews on TripAdvisor, the effects are quite noticeable.
What Tourists Are Saying
- Olga M: “Tasty pizza, and after about three hours, the flavor really started to come out. I also really liked the green tea frappe. Highly recommend for all fans, plus you can get blunts for a dollar.”
- andrew_skylark: “That famous pizza 🙂 We got a medium one to share, and at first, it seemed just okay. But now, two hours later, sitting in a nearby bar, I realize the pizza is actually really good 🙂 I recommend it.”
- Ilya M: “A regular happy pizza is enough for just one person, and not everyone feels the effect. Ask for an extra dollar’s worth of greens, but then split the pizza between two people.”
Of course, not everyone is so enthusiastic. For example, user Ivan S was disappointed:
“No effect, dirty place. No effect. There are many similar places nearby, maybe I just went to the wrong one? Although I think for most people it’s just a placebo effect.”
Fortunately for the restaurant, most tourists seem to enjoy both the place and the effects of its dishes. So you can safely go and try it for yourself. And of course, there’s much more to see and do in Cambodia besides marijuana!
