One in Four French Prisoners Smokes Cannabis Daily

A study conducted by the French Observatory for Drugs and Drug Addiction reveals that cannabis is extremely widespread in French prisonsβ€”one in four inmates admitted to smoking it every day.

Cannabis is even more popular in prisons than alcohol. According to the study, 49% of inmates said they had used cannabis during their incarceration, regardless of the length of their sentence. Among these, 26% confessed to daily use.

Illegal substances typically enter prisons through corrupt staff, visitors, or are delivered by drones.
