One in Four French Prisoners Smokes Cannabis Daily
A study conducted by the French Observatory for Drugs and Drug Addiction reveals that cannabis is extremely widespread in French prisonsβone in four inmates admitted to smoking it every day.
Cannabis is even more popular in prisons than alcohol. According to the study, 49% of inmates said they had used cannabis during their incarceration, regardless of the length of their sentence. Among these, 26% confessed to daily use.
Illegal substances typically enter prisons through corrupt staff, visitors, or are delivered by drones.
