Israeli Startup to Supply CBD Sticks to the US and Mexico

Israeli Startup to Begin Supplying “CBD Sticks” to the US and Mexico

Five years ago, Israeli entrepreneur Asher Holzer came up with the idea to produce sticks made from cannabis extracts, designed to be inserted into tobacco products. This method is much more convenient than the traditional approach of unrolling a cigarette, adding cannabis, and rolling it back up. The idea proved so successful that Holzer’s company is now expanding its production of these sticks to the US and Mexican markets.

Partnership and Expansion

The Israeli cannabis startup StickIt, which manufactures CBD sticks, has entered into a partnership with the American cannabis company Green Globe International, a leader in the production of CBD and CBG cigarettes in North America. The partners plan to build a factory for producing these sticks in California.

The factory is expected to begin operations as early as January 2022, with an initial production capacity of 10 million sticks per month. The products will be sold not only in the US but also exported to Mexico.

“The partnership established with Green Globe International, along with other collaborations we have announced with companies abroad, makes us the leading [Israeli] company in the cannabis industry,” said Asher Holzer, founder of StickIt.

About the Product

StickIt sticks are shaped like toothpicks and are designed to be inserted into any tobacco product. In addition to 10-30 mg of cannabidiol (CBD), they contain a range of terpenes and terpenoids, such as beta-caryophyllene, limonene, myrcene, linalool, and others.

The StickIt product line includes 26 varieties. Each pack of 10 sticks costs between 20 and 30 euros.

The sticks can mimic the aroma and flavor of specific cannabis strains—such as Pineapple Express, Jack Herer, OG-Kush, Super Lemon Haze, and Sour Diesel—as well as popular spices and fruits like grapefruit, mint, sage, lavender, vanilla, and cinnamon.

About the Startup

Asher Holzer launched StickIt in 2016. The idea to sell CBD sticks came to him after he and his lawyer and accountant smoked a joint in New York to celebrate a successful business meeting.

“At that moment, I thought to myself: ‘They took a really good Marlboro cigarette, unrolled it, took out the tobacco, mixed it with weed, and rolled the cigarette back up, which now doesn’t quite look like a Marlboro,’” he said in an interview with CTech last year.

Before partnering with Green Globe International, StickIt’s products were supplied to European countries. The startup’s marketing strategy avoids the use of intoxicating cannabinoids like THC in its sticks, ensuring their technical legality in as many jurisdictions as possible.
