1 GB of Puma’s Internal Data for Sale on Marketo Dark Web Marketplace
The German sportswear company Puma has become the latest victim of cybercriminals. A 1 GB cache of stolen Puma files has surfaced on the Marketo dark web forum, where hackers are now attempting to sell this internal data.
Access to Marketo is available through the Tor network. This online marketplace is one of several platforms where cybercriminals trade data stolen during cyberattacks.
Details of the Data Breach
One of the listings on Marketo is offering 1 gigabyte of files stolen from Puma. A unique feature of this marketplace is its auction system, which encourages interested parties to compete for the compromised information.
Currently, 157 individuals have expressed interest in purchasing Puma’s internal data. Often, the victimized company also tries to buy back its own information to prevent it from falling into the hands of hackers.
Nature of the Stolen Data
According to researchers, most of the compromised data consists of source code for applications used to manage Puma’s internal systems. It is believed that this is related to the Puma Product Management portal.
The stolen information could be used to launch well-coordinated and sophisticated cyberattacks against the German company. Experts who analyzed the leaked data believe that the cybercriminals gained access by hacking a third-party software developer.
