YouTube Promises Cooperation with Russian Authorities

YouTube Commits to Working with Russian Authorities

The global video-sharing platform YouTube is doing everything possible to resolve its disagreements with Russian authorities and avoid being blocked. This was stated by YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki in an interview with Bloomberg.

Wojcicki emphasized that freedom of speech is a key value for the platform, but local laws are always taken into account. According to her, YouTube wants to ensure the highest possible level of service and availability in Russia. At the same time, the platform will do everything it can to address all concerns raised by the Russian government.

When asked whether YouTube has removed videos at the request of Russian authorities, Wojcicki declined to comment. However, she noted that the platform makes decisions on government requests “based on a range of different factors.”

It is worth noting that earlier, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media of the Russian Federation announced the creation of a list of major social networks. This registry is being established to monitor compliance with Russian government regulations.
