VirtualBox 7.0.14 Release Overview

Oracle has released a maintenance update for its virtualization platform, VirtualBox 7.0.14, which includes 14 bug fixes. At the same time, an update for the previous branch, VirtualBox 6.1.50, was also made available, featuring 7 changes. Notable improvements in the 6.1.50 update include support for kernel packages from RHEL 9.4 and 8.9 distributions, as well as the ability to import and export virtual machine images with NVMe storage controllers and media inserted into a virtual CD/DVD drive.

Main Changes in VirtualBox 7.0.14

  • Enhanced 3D support.
  • Added support for importing and exporting virtual machine images in OVF format that include NVMe storage controllers.
  • Added support for exporting virtual machine images in OVF format that contain media inserted into a virtual CD/DVD drive attached to a Virtio-SCSI controller.
  • For Linux hosts and guest systems, added support for kernel packages provided in RHEL 9.4.
  • Resolved an issue in Linux guest additions that caused crashes due to vboxvideo failures on systems with the RHEL 8.9 kernel.
  • For Solaris guest additions, implemented the ability to install additions to an alternative root directory using ‘pkgadd -R’.
  • Uninstalling guest additions on Solaris no longer requires restarting the virtual machine.
  • Corrected the display of memory usage units in the VirtualSystemDescription parameter.
  • On Windows hosts, fixed issues with switching audio devices when using the WAS audio backend.
  • In Windows guest systems, resolved a problem where touchscreen events were lost if the user held a touch for a long time without moving their finger.
  • On macOS hosts, added support for new storage devices and fixed a memory leak in the VBoxIntNetSwitch process when a virtual machine is configured to use an internal network.
