Tails 6.7 Linux Distribution Released
The release of the specialized Linux distribution Tails 6.7 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) has been announced. Tails is based on the Debian 12 package base, comes with the GNOME 43 desktop environment, and is designed for anonymous internet access.
Key Features of Tails 6.7
- Anonymous internet access is provided through the Tor system. By default, all connections except those routed through the Tor network are blocked by a packet filter.
- User data can be stored securely between sessions using encrypted persistent storage.
- An ISO image is available for download, which can be run in Live mode. The image size is 1 GB.
What’s New in This Release
- Updated Tor Browser to version 13.5.3.
- Updated email client Thunderbird to version 115.15.0.
- Updated file sharing application OnionShareOnionShare is an open-source tool that lets people share files, host websites, and even chat securely through the Tor network. Instead of relying on cloud services, it creates a temporary onion address directly from your computer, ensuring anonymity and direct peer-to-peer transfers. Once the app closes, the link expires, making it ideal for one-time, private exchanges. While slower than traditional services, OnionShare is a vital tool for journalists, activists, and anyone who values privacy over convenience. More to version 2.6, which now includes the ability to create anonymous chats.
