Tails 5.22 Distribution Released

The specialized Tails 5.22 distribution (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) has been released. Tails is based on Debian packages and is designed for anonymous internet access. Anonymity in Tails is provided by the Tor system. By default, all connections except those routed through the Tor network are blocked by a packet filter. User data persistence between sessions is protected with encryption. The distribution is available as a 1 GB ISO image that can run in Live mode.

What’s New in Tails 5.22

  • Tor Browser now allows saving files to the Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, and Videos directories, as well as transferring files from these folders.
  • If the persistent storage is damaged, Tails will attempt to recover the file system after it is unlocked on the login welcome screen.
  • When cloning persistent storage, the write speed is now displayed.
  • Attempts to unlock or delete persistent storage on USB drives that are read-only have been removed.
  • Tor Browser has been updated to version 13.0.9, and Thunderbird has been updated to version 115.7.
