Possible Upcoming YouTube Ban in Russia

YouTube May Be Blocked in Russia Soon

According to a source close to Roskomnadzor, YouTube may be blocked in Russia by the end of next week, or possibly even today, as reported by RIA Novosti. The source stated that the decision was originally expected last week, but was postponed due to the blocking of Instagram.

On March 18, Roskomnadzor called YouTube’s actions “terrorist” because of the spread of threats against Russian citizens and demanded that the platform stop this activity. According to the regulator, YouTube has been broadcasting ads calling for the disruption of railway communications in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.

Since the start of the “special operation” in Ukraine, Russian authorities have already blocked three major foreign social networks: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
