Japanese Company Suggests Projector System to Deter Apartment Burglars
The Japanese real estate company Leo Palace 21 has proposed a new way to deter potential burglars: projecting the image of a male silhouette onto window curtains. The company hopes that this system will help women who live alone feel safer and better protect their homes. This was reported by Geek.
How the “Man on the Curtain” System Works
The “Man on the Curtain” system is a miniature projector that connects to a smartphone. To demonstrate the technology, the developers recorded 12 black-and-white videos featuring a male actor performing various household activities, such as vacuuming the floor, drinking coffee, playing guitar, or working out with dumbbells. When one of these videos is projected onto a closed curtain (used as a screen), it appears from the outside as the shadow of a man inside the apartment.
Each video lasts 30 minutes and can be played on a loop or selected individually. It is not yet known when the system will be available for sale, but in the near future, Leo Palace 21 plans to provide projectors to five women living in Tokyo for testing.
