British Climbers Rescued After Marijuana Use on Scafell Pike
Four climbers in the United Kingdom required rescue after losing the ability to descend from Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in Britain, following the consumption of marijuana, according to The Independent.
The incident took place on September 23 in the Lake District. The climbers contacted authorities themselves, reporting that they were unable to make their way down the mountain. The rescue operation involved officers from the Cumbria police department and local mountain rescue teams.
The Cumbria police made the incident public by posting about it on social media. βCumbria Police received a call from individuals stranded on the mountain because they had taken marijuana,β the police stated, noting that mountain rescue teams, aviation, and ambulance services were required for the operation.
