Twitter May Add Encrypted Messaging Feature

Twitter May Introduce Encrypted Messaging

Twitter users may soon be able to send each other messages protected by end-to-end encryption technology. A hidden “secret chat” feature was discovered in the Android version of the Twitter app, which would allow users to exchange encrypted messages.

This encrypted messaging feature was first found in the Twitter APK file by researcher Jane Manchun Wong. APK files often contain code for features that companies are testing before they are officially released.

Twitter’s press office has not commented on the situation. It is currently unclear when this feature will be officially launched.

Previously, in response to actions by Russia’s Roskomnadzor to block Telegram, the Chief Operating Officer of the social network VKontakte, Andrey Rogozov, promised to introduce end-to-end encryption for users’ voice and video calls to ensure the security of their data.
