Illinois Company Grows the World’s Most Potent Cannabis
An Illinois-based company may have succeeded in cultivating the world’s most potent cannabis. A batch of the indica-dominant strain Brownie Scout from Green Thumb Industries tested at 37.5% THC. Growers claim this result could be a record for the cannabis industry.
New Heights in Cannabis Cultivation
Western cultivators have reached new heights in growing cannabis. In the United States, the most potent cannabis is traditionally grown in California, Colorado, or Oregon—states where it is fully legalized. However, medical cannabis producers from Illinois recently reported surprising results: they managed to produce buds with the highest recorded THC content.
According to High Times, Illinois-based Green Thumb Industries (GTI) tested a batch of their proprietary Brownie Scout strain. The analysis showed 37.5% THC—a record result that no one has achieved before. GTI Vice President Kate Denton stated that the strain’s full potential was realized in the last four harvests, which produced especially potent buds with THC content above 30%.
About the Brownie Scout Strain
Brownie Scout is an indica-dominant strain created by crossing Platinum Girl Scout Cookies and Great Divide, another proprietary strain from GTI. The result is dense buds with a pronounced earthy aroma, hints of pine, black pepper, and wildflowers. Cultivators who have tried their own product report a classic indica body stone and a pleasant cerebral effect. Potential medical uses for the strain include pain relief, anxiety reduction, and combating insomnia.
THC Content: Fact or Hype?
Usually, when producers claim THC content above 30% in their strains, skeptics suspect the numbers are exaggerated. The average THC content in cannabis buds typically ranges from 15% to 25%. In extracts and concentrates, this number can reach 60% to 90%.
Official representatives of Green Thumb Industries have stated that the test results for Brownie Scout are not just a marketing ploy, but fully accurate. The company is ready to provide samples of their product to independent experts for further analysis.
