Elon Musk’s Starlink Satellite Internet Now Available in 32 Countries

Starlink Satellite Internet Expands to 32 Countries

SpaceX has announced that its Starlink satellite internet service is now available in 32 countries worldwide. The company shared a coverage map highlighting most of Europe and North America, as well as parts of South America, Australia, and New Zealand.

According to SpaceX, customers ordering from areas marked as “available” on the map will have their Starlink kits shipped immediately. The official coverage map was published on SpaceX’s Twitter account, showing the current and upcoming service areas.

Current and Future Coverage

The map indicates that Starlink is “available” across much of Europe and North America, along with select regions in South America, Australia, and New Zealand. Most other parts of the world, including the entire African continent, are labeled as “coming soon,” with availability expected in various locations throughout 2023.

As noted by VC.ru, Starlink could become available next year in Turkey, as well as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and other countries. Russia and Belarus are not included in the list of upcoming service areas.

Starlink’s Launch in Ukraine and Security Challenges

In late February 2022, Starlink began operating in Ukraine. U.S. military officials reported that Russian forces involved in the so-called “special operation” attempted to jam the satellite internet using electronic warfare, but SpaceX was able to resolve the issue.

Recently, Elon Musk stated that there has been an increase in cyberattacks targeting the global Starlink satellite system from Russia. The Russian embassy in the United States regularly denies any involvement in cyber operations.
